The ‘Getting Rid of Spills and Spots’ Guide
Act Fast: The sooner you address the spill, the better the chance of complete removal
Blot, Don’t Rub: Gently blot the spill with a clean WIPE ENVY to prevent spreading or driving it deeper into the material
Test First: Always test cleaning solutions on an inconspicuous area to ensure they won’t damage the surface
Follow this advice for getting the following out of fabric and upholstery:
Coffee/tea
Blot with cold water. Apply a mix of 1 tsp dish soap, 1 tsp white vinegar, and 1 cup warm water. Blot dry.
Wine
Blot excess. Sprinkle with salt. After 10 minutes, rinse with cold water and clean with dish soap solution.
Grease
Sprinkle baking soda or cornstarch. Let sit for 15 minutes. Brush off and clean with dish soap and water solution.
Chocolate
Scrape off excess. Dab with a warm water and dish soap solution. Rinse and blot dry.
Wax/candle.
Harden with ice, scrape gently. Iron over paper towel to absorb remaining wax.
Red Sauce (tomato)
Rinse with cold water. Blot with vinegar and water solution. Rinse and dry.
Gum
Freeze with ice. Scrape off gently. For residue, use rubbing alcohol or dish soap.
