What material is this made of?? Is it a type of plastic?
Skura Style sponges are a combination of a patented foam base that is highly absorbent with excellent wipe-dry performance, a premium nonabrasive coating for scouring, and an antimicrobial agent in the foam and scouring coating that inhibits the growth of odor-causing bacteria, mold and mildew. More specifically, the sponge and scrubber coating are polyurethane. The printing is an ink jet printing. The scrubber grain in the coating is acrylic.
A while back, I read about one of your sponges being the BEST for cleaning Dutch ovens. I think it was the Very Scrubby, but want to make sure before cleaning with it? don't want to damage my pot.
The Very Skrubby is quite abrasive - so we would recommend testing on an inconspicuous area. You can also try the skrubby side of your Skura sponge - that definitely will not scratch, and will clean your Dutch oven like a charm.
I just bought the Very Scrubby and like it very much. Why is it not recommended for stainless steel appliances and cookware? Sometimes I get a discoloration in my Emeril stainless steel pots and usually use Barkeeper's Friend and another scrubby to remove it. I was going to use the Very Scrubby until I read the box, so I didn't use it on those pots. Thank you.
The Very Skrubby is super-abrasive and can possibly scratch your stainless steel. They are designed to remove tough baked on messes. We recommend always testing an inconspicuous area, however.
What are your thoughts on using this on the following surfaces: cast iron? carbon steel? a Le Cruset?
Skura Style sponges are safe on a wide range of kitchen surfaces, including ceramic plates, glassware, porcelain and stainless-steel sinks, cast iron, laminate and chrome. They will not scratch pans, pots, and utensils with non-stick coated surfaces. However, we recommend that you test first on an inconspicuous area.
Is Very Skrubby suitable for carbon steel pans? Will they strip the seasoning? Must they be used with soap or will they work with water alone?
Hello! Our Very Skrubby pads are quite abrasive and therefore we don’t recommend using on any surface where abrasives can potentially damage finish or coatings.
